Garry Charker (Chucky) has won the ACT Men’s Singles title 25-23 over James Reynolds in an enthralling all-Canberra BC final at Queanbeyan RSLM BC. The cold weather and persistent drizzle didn’t do justice to the occasion but both bowlers dealt well with the adverse conditions and put on a fine show of bowling for the onlookers … who were mostly staying warm on the other side of the glass in the QRSL lounge!
Chucky led for most of the day but James levelled the scores at 15 apiece. Chucky put on a spurt to lead 24-17 but James fought back to bring the scores to 24-23 and then held shot before Chucky’s perfectly weighted delivery displaced the shot bowl and came to rest beside the jack.
Canberra BC demonstrated its depth in this event with four players making the quarter finals and two of them battling out the final.

In the Women’s Final, Chloe Morrison who plays in Canberra’s first grade pennant side had a resounding 25-4 win. Well done, Chloe!
