Canberra Bowling Club would like to congratulate đ all our Pennant participants last weekend as all four teams gave it their best shot in stunning conditions at the SnakePit đ. And we extend our gratitude to the four visiting teams with all games played in positive BACT spirit đ
The ruthless Cobra 1s đ again took the points – this week 10-2 (63-51) over the Tuggernanong Vikings – but it was a brutal battle filled with strategic heads (on the rink and above the shoulders). The win was set up by Jimmy âthe maestroâ Smith and his rink of Lawson, Daddow and Dowsett who led the way with a solid 12 shot victory, while the rink led by Matt âthe magicianâ Sargeant also got over the line by a couple of shots đ€. In the final rink weâre crushed we couldnât get over the line for our recruit âHollywoodâ Todd Trewarne, but the rink went down valiantly, not comically, to the Benny Hill led Viking rink by 2 shots.
The âStrike Hardâ Cobra 2s also went about their business with cold-blooded efficiency, taking care of visiting Canberra North 12-0 (60-40) đ„. All three rinks got up with a last shot bomb đŁ from Matt âgoldenâ Styles ensuring a one-shot victory on the final rink. The other two rinks had comfortable victories, led by the steady hand of the vastly underrated Dave Lindbeck (9 shots) and Cobra veteran sporting all-rounder âKingâ Charles Smith (12 shots).
Keeping the narrative going up, div5 continued on their winning way 10-2 (74-54) over Weston Creek đ€©. The hard-nosed rink of Bourke, Carters and Proctor and Skip Cameron âuberâ OâBrien led the way with a crushing 35-11 landslide, while the âKenny Dâ rink picked up a last end 5 to grab the two-points by 4 shots. The final rink went down by 8 but battled hard to ensure a comfortable overall âbig boardâ victory.
Finally, the super 6ers battled hard but were outshone by 0-12 (41-68) by the visiting Tuggeranong Vikings. There are a few new faces in the 6s and will take a little while to gel, but itâs all upward trajectory for this quiver of Cobras đ.
