Pennant Round 7 Wrap ⬇️

Who thinks Skips are overrated and receive too much credit 🔥. This week we’re focussing on the Leads in our rink summaries. And while we’re there let’s have a quick look at the player’s ladder for the best players in BACT – div1 – and who do we see at the top? Super lead Paul Hogan currently at no1 out of 96 div1 bowlers. Great work Hoges 🥇🤙. Equal top – but Leads come first 😉 – is rink Skip Matt ‘the magician’ Sargeant 🙌. And shout out to ‘The Enforcer’ Joel Dowsett, also in the top ten 🤙🐍.

The 1s slithered 🐍 off to Tuggeranong to take on the Vikings and came back with 10 of the 12 points (62-57) 🤩. Win was set up by the rink led by the ‘quiet assassin’ AJ Roberts with a solid 11 shot win, well supported by the ‘one and only’ Paul Hogan rink with a 6 shot victory. Finally the Cobra elite return to the Snakepit for the final 3 rounds, hoping to shore up the minor premiership.

Back at the Snakepit, the 2s continued their resurgence with a solid 66-54 (10-2) 💪🏼 win over the star-studded legends of Weston Creek. Big win by the Mark ‘Rowdy’ Dulihanty rink 29-13 led the way, while the Greg ‘Bugsy’ Bourke rink also got up with a stirring come from behind victory by 8 shots. Big three weeks coming up for the 2s with all final matches away north on ‘live stuff’. On the player’s ladder, big shout out to Cliff ‘the gazelle’ Gilbert (4th) and super-sportsman Charles Smith (6th) 🎉.

The 5s went out west to the Creek and battled valiantly going down 53-55 (2-10). A big 26-14 result 👏 on the Prince Harry Hepburn rink almost grabbed the 6 points, but the margin was too much to claw back. The 5s are off to Belco next week followed by the final two matches at the Snakepit. Player’s ladder sees ‘Uber’ O’Brien sitting in second, with rink mates Dave Kimber (6th) and Mark Stewart (7th) also in the top 10 🥳.

The Cobra-6s also travelled to Tuggeranong to get a fleeting vision of their real-life cousins 🐍, the odd Eastern Brown which may frequent the new surface down there. Unfortunately no sight of the Eastern Brown and came away with a 8-shot loss 52-60 (2-10). Another win on the consistent Gerard Lilliecrap led rink, and a close loss by the bowling machine Trav ‘travellator’ Borgo’s rink, gave the 6s a fighting chance, but it wasn’t to be. A home game next week gives the 6s a chance to remain in finals contention.

Also a reminder that the club is hosting the ACT Men’s Fours on both the 9th & 10th of April 2024. This will also mean Social bowls for both those days is cancelled and some helpers maybe needed as well. Just contact the club to declare your availibility.  Thank you
