Pennant Wrap Round 8

While our esteemed in house sports writer is currently on a short break, the pennant wraps may appear less colourful than normal but hopefully the content will still be accurate. 😊

This week we will start with the Sixer’s as the near miss losses this season just keep piling up. Always within 2-3 shots on the big board that just doesn’t go their way. Still we fight on, leading the charge was Will Lopez’s rink with a good 22 – 13 win. Followed by Harry Kaye who just fell short of the line with a 16 -17 loss. Chris Moore’s rink unfortunately went down 26 – 15. The final result was 53 – 56 loss to Yass @ Home. Current position on the Team ladder is 6th

Moving on to the Five’s who ventured out to Belconnen to continue their charge into the playoffs with another victory. Lead by Ken Derby’s rink with an impressive come from behind 25 – 11 win. Terry Jarvie’s rink followed with a 21 – 17 win and Cam Obrien’s didn’t quite make it this week having led the charge every other week with 20 – 14 loss. Final result was a win on the big board 60 – 48. Team Ladder position is now 2nd place.

With the Two’s it was a close call coming down to the final bowl but in the end we prevailed. Lead by Matty Styles rink with a 19 – 11 win along with Chris Barritt-Eyles rink who also had a 20 – 14 win. While Charles Smith rink wasn’t as successful overall (27 – 15) being the last rink to finish they got us over the line with a final end win to give us victory on the big board. Final Score 54 – 52 win @ Norths. Current team position on the ladder is 4th.

The One’s had a minor hiccup last week with a loss on the big board against QRSL going down 61-64. M Sargent’s rink had a 19-22 loss and this same margin was repeated on Flynn’s rink with a 19-22 loss. However, J Smith’s rink had a win with a 23-20 margin so that prevented a clean sweep. As the Cobra One’s still sit comfortably in the number one spot on the team ladder.

Coming up to the final two games of the season before the finals and a timely reminder this is a double header weekend with games both on Saturday and Sunday. Of course, we want all those final games to be winners so we have better opportunities in the playoffs. The first team announcement for the Saturday game will be published today and the Sunday game will be posted a day later when player availability is confirmed.
Reminder Training is now starts @ 4:45 pm both Weds & Thurs with clocks back to normal time.
