Let the games begin 💪.  Best of luck to CBC’s  Cobras 🐍 – yes a quiver! – as they compete in Australia’s richest bowls event, the superbly run Australian Open on the Gold Coast ☀️ 😎.

As our rookie said, up here in the sun 🌞 we’re winners already.  In no particular order, best wishes Messrs Reynolds, Styles, Daddow, Charker, Rumley, Barrett-Eyles (that’s just one player 😉), Tonkin, O’Shaughnessy and Proctor 🐍

Update : No Cobras have made it to the knockouts of AO Men’s Singles 😞,  so let’s change the subject 👇🏿

Congratulations to Jimmy Reynolds and partner Damien Delgado in taking out the June Pairs at Tweed Heads BC 🤙

After the lacklustre AO Men’s Singles, a bit of a bounce in subsequent disciplines (bowls related 😉). In the Men’s Pairs two teams have qualified through to the knockout rounds 👉🏼Jimmy Reynolds and Flynn O’Shaughnessy, & Garry Charker and his partner from Victoria Todd Trewarne. Knockouts start Tuesday.

In the Men’s Fours we have half a team through to the final 16 after qualifying yesterday and winning their *3* knockout matches today at Tugun BC. Congratulations to Garry Charker and Matt Styles and their two teammates Todd Trewarne and Doug Farr (Weston Creek) 💪. Knockouts continue next Wednesday- Keep going lads 🤙

On Sunday, Jimmy Reynolds begins his campaign in the Multi Discipline Men’s Singles.

Sunday 18th of June

News out of the Gold Coast for those of you back in Canberra is positive- not a cloud in the sky and 23 degrees 😀. Apologies, the bowls news is, more importantly, excellent 🤙🐍

Yesterday club leader Jimmy Reynolds swept through qualifying for the MD Singles 👉🏼 do not pass go, do not collect $200, but straight to the knockouts young Jim 🎉👍

In the knockout rounds of the Men’s Pairs today’s outcome has been outstanding. Flynn O’Shaughnessy and Jimmy ‘yes it’s him again’ Reynolds have won both matches and now take on Gary Kelly and David Ferguson this afternoon. Cmon lads 🐍

Not to be outdone Garry ‘Chucky’ Charker and his partner Todd Trewarne also won both their knockouts at Robina. And just quietly we’re claiming Todd as an honorary Cobra for this event and the Fours 🐍🐍. This afternoon they play bowls larrikin Big Kevvie Anderson and superstar international Ryan Bester. Good luck boys 🤙

Get behind your Bink Pavers Cobras 🐍😍

Three rounds of Men’s Pairs knockout today and both the Bink Pavers Canberra Cobra 🐍 teams won all their knockouts to move into the final 16 🎉

At Burleigh Heads Flynn O’Shaughnessy and Jimmy Reynolds comfortably defeated Gary Kelly and David Ferguson 20-12.

Over at Robina Garry Charker and honorary Cobra 🐍 Todd Trewarne defeated Kevin Anderson and Ryan Bester 15-13. Note the final bowl in the video below 👇🏽

Tuesday 20th June

Give a shout to the Hip Pocket Workwear & Safety Cobra’s 🐍 gallant efforts today in AO23 at Broadbeach 👏

This morning Flynn O’Shaughnessy and Jimmy Reynolds’ dominant run came to an end losing 8-15.  Meanwhile on the end rink – camera no 1 😉 – the pair of Garry Charker and Todd Trewarne won after an extra end.  If you want to catch all the great bowls, including Chucky’s Jack sinking winner, be sure to watch on Happy Bowler’s Facebook stream (link 👇🏽). I’m sure Chucky will be telling this yarn for years over a red🍷.

Unfortunately the Melton lads went down in the quarter final in another thriller, courtesy of a last bowl from opposing skip Nick Cahill.

Action continues tomorrow in the Fours for Trewarne, Charker, Styles and Farr at Helensvale BC.  We hope the lads go Farr 😉🐍
